Tiger balm is a skin product found in the Chinese pharmacopoeia. Its ingredients and its method of manufacture are typically assimilated to the famous traditional Chinese medicine which is based on its use with the aim of relieving many discomforts. While Tiger Balm originated in China, it was actually a Burmese herbalist who finalized its final formulation in the 1870s. Tiger Balm is now available in many countries and widely used for its varied benefits. Its active ingredients such as mint, clove or cajeput make it a natural and effective product. It is found in two versions, composed of the same ingredients in different quantities for distinct fields of application. This is because the ingredients in Tiger Balm Red such as camphor and clove exhibit a warming effect, while the eucalyptus in Tiger Balm White has a cooling effect.
