Eschscholzia

Escholtzia is a wild perennial herbaceous plant of the Papaveraceae family. It forms clumps 30 to 40 cm tall, its leaves are large and finely cut, and its yellow-orange flowers open in the sun from May to September. Escholtzia is native to California and the southwestern United States, and forms vast and beautiful, bright patches. It is used as an ornamental plant, grown by sowing in all types of soil, even poor and dry.

The aerial parts of the plant (stem, flowers, leaves) are used for therapeutic purposes. Traditionally, Escholtzia relieves mild symptoms of stress, headaches, or toothaches, and aids sleep. Eschscholtzia Californica contains a mixture of alkaloids, benzophenanthridines (sanguinarine, fumarin, chelidonine), pavines (eschscholtzine, californidine, norargemonine, bisnorargemonine), protopine, cryptopine, aporphines…, carotenoids, flavanoids, linamarin, phytosterols. A diffuse action in “synergy” totally harmless at the recommended doses.
