The essen'ciel cooperative has been growing spirulina since 2011. It set up the first spirulina farm in Alsace with the help of the European Social Fund. Now based in Hurtigheim in Alsace. In parallel, it has partnered with two humanitarian associations in Burkina Faso which work for health, the construction of schools and local economic development. What is Spirulina? It is a microscopic freshwater algae from the cyanobacteria family that appeared 3 billion years ago. It grows naturally in the warm waters of lakes in Chad, Mexico, India. It is also cultivated in the exagon and other countries. It is said to be a superfood because it feeds on the micronutrients of its culture medium. Composed of trace elements, vegetable proteins and other nutritive elements able to bring to the body interesting benefits.

Nutritional composition :

An exceptional protein intake!

Spirulina holds the protein record: 50 to 70% of its dry matter are highly assimilable proteins (absorption coefficient of 94% against beef 34%) and balanced, containing all 8 essential and 9 non-essential amino acids. We estimate the daily amount of protein needed at 1g per kilo of body weight, or 70 gr for a person of 70 kg. But the protein use of spirulina is such that the recommended amount can be divided by 4, i.e. 17.5 gr for a person weighing 70 kg and 5 g for a child weighing 20 kg ... In terms of protein, it is an effective supplement for reassembling a malnourished child.
