ORGANIC turmeric

Turmeric is prepared from Curcuma longa. It is a plant species native to Southeast Asia. It is also called Indian saffron, Bourbon saffron or Indian nutsedge. This herbaceous plant belongs to the Zinziberaceae family, just like gingers. It is recognized by its large, smooth leaves and its yellow flowers. It is also a dye plant, which gives it this orange color. Turmeric is traditionally used to give a beautiful color to rice. It is used to flavor soups and tagines. In its modern form, it is presented in capsule form as a dietary supplement.

The dried roots of turmeric are ground to powder form. The latter will be packaged in its final form with a view to marketing it.

Turmeric stands out from other plants by its richness in curcumin. This component belongs to the curcuminoid family. A good quality root can contain 50 to 60% curcumin. The rate reaches 60 to 95% for an excellent quality rhizome. Curcumin is known for its antioxidant effect as well as its anti-inflammatory properties. Packaged in its powder form, vegetable turmeric contains iron. It is a mineral which participates in the manufacture of cells and for the transport of oxygen. It also contains manganese which plays a role in the metabolic process.
