Organic Argan vegetable oil

Argan oil is a vegetable oil that comes from the argan tree, a tree endemic to Morocco. Argania spinosa, for its scientific name, is a shrubby plant that can reach 10 meters in height and is found in the botanical family of sapotaceae. Spinosa refers to the thorny twigs found on the tree. As for its age, it can reach 200 years if grown in the right climate.

The small white (sometimes yellow or greenish) flowers of the argan tree give rise to oval-shaped, yellow-brown fruits. The latter contain a fairly hard nut, which itself contains small kernels, of which there are 2 or 3 per fruit. After picking the fruits, the almonds are used in the manufacture of argan oil.

Is argan oil edible?

Although argan oil is also used for its cosmetic properties, it is also a quality food oil. If the amadons have been roasted, the argan oil will have a stronger taste and a darker color. However, be careful when using argan oil in the kitchen. It should not be brought to high temperature in order to keep all its active ingredients intact. Nutritious and delicious, it goes well with almonds, honey and will perfectly flavor a raw vegetable salad.

How to use argan oil?

Argan oil can be used as a hair care. On dry hair, apply a few drops of oil strand by strand then leave for 10 to 20 minutes. Then do your usual shampoo. Repeat 1-2 times a week. For moisturizing skin care, argan oil penetrates quickly to massage the different parts of the body, for all skin types, even dry or very dry skin.

You can drizzle argan oil over a vegetable carpaccio, along with ginger and lemon, for a recipe that is both fresh and inexpensive. Tasty and gourmet, it is an oil that can also be used in vinaigrettes and cold sauces. It is particularly tasty with onion confit or a salad of marinated peppers!
